The Double Life of the Artist
An ongoing art research aimed at exploring the double life of the artist or cultural producer and tracing fantasies of escaping or playing with life under capitalist logic and art career precarity.
The research is part of the “Labour Images” project.
A research-based art project encompassing a multi-chapter film programme, an art exhibition, publications, seminars, interactive lectures and performances to investigate images and representations of work in cinema archives, contemporary films, art practices, relevant dramatic and literary works in Egypt since the 1930s until now. The project explores alternative contexts in light of different labour theories and notions to develop an awareness and a critical reading of the history of cinema and modern and contemporary art from a labour perspective.
